SUMMARY:Board Meeting - Oct 10\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:The Oakbridge Community Services Association (OCSA) Board of Directors will meet from 7 to 9 PM on Thu. Oct. 10 in Room 112 of the Madison College West Campus\, 8017 Excelsior Drive in Madison. Members of the public — especially Oakbridge residents — are welcome to attend. \n\nThe principal order of business will be further consideration of an amendment to the OCSA By-Laws that was left undecided at the previous meeting. \nIn other Board news\, Ron Hay has announced that he won’t be running for re-election to the Board at the annual meeting in January. In all\, Ron has devoted 21 years of selfless service to OCSA\, including many as its President\, and he will leave big shoes to fill. Treasurer Jeff Wilson has also said that he will be stepping down from that role in January. \nThis would be an excellent time for other community members who are dedicated to keeping Oakbridge a vibrant neighborhood to consider stepping up to run for the Board themselves. The main obligation is attending monthly (more or less) meetings. The Board very much encourages diverse participation in its decision-making. \nWhile you may\, of course\, wait until the annual meeting in January to declare your official candidacy\, it would help if we knew in advance how much interest there is in filling these jobs\, so if you’re thinking about it — or even just wondering about it — please contact OCSA President Abigail Darwin at AKDarwin@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Board Meeting - July 28\, 2019

Just a reminder that the next Oakbridge Neighborhood Association Board Meeting will be held on Sunday\, July 28\, from 6-8 pm at: \nRegus 8383 Greenway Blvd. Suite 600 Middleton WI 53562 \nIt is the old Smith & Gesteland Building. It is the only building with a flag on the roof. \nPlease arrive promptly\, as we will manually have to let everyone in the building (since it is a Sunday)\, so anyone arriving after 6 pm will not be able to get in. \nAt this next meeting\, the Board will be discussing\, among other things\, allowing for electronic notice in the bylaws. Right now\, the bylaws only allow for paper/mailed notices of upcoming meetings\, including meetings at which neighborhood residents are required to vote. However\, we would like to also allow for electronic notice of meetings to neighborhood residents. All neighborhood residents are welcome to attend and provide any comments.

SUMMARY:Board Meeting - May 7\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:The next Oakbridge Neighborhood Association Board Meeting will take place on May 7\, 2019\, from 6-8 pm at the Alicia Ashman Library in the Conference Room. \nAt the meeting\, we have a VERY important matter to discuss \n \nThe City has announced that in addition to the assessment of $3\,465 to fix the curbs and gutters in the common areas\, there will be an ADDITIONAL assessment of $15\,206.54 to fix and/or replace the sidewalks in our common areas. \nThe annual neighborhood dues for this year were higher than usual in order to pay for the curb and gutter repairs. The sidewalk repairs\, however\, (that we just recently found out about) will have to be paid for separately. \nWe have a couple different options for how we can pay for the sidewalk repairs — either pay it all off this year (which would likely involve levying a special assessment against all neighborhood residents)\, OR pay it off over 5 years (in which case there would likely NOT have to be a special assessment). The disadvantage to paying over 5 years is that interest is added to the grand total. \nWe could hire a private contractor to do the work (which may cost slightly less than what the city would charge)\, but in the case of a private contractor\, we would likely have to pay 50% up-front\, and we do not have enough money in the coffers to be able to afford that. \nThe Board has to make a decision soon about how we will pay for the sidewalk repairs\, and WE WANT YOUR INPUT!!!! So\, please consider attending the meeting on May 7. I apologize that the Conference Room at the Library is a little small\, so we may not be able to fit everyone in there if too many folks show up. But\, if that is the case\, we will try to figure out a way to have folks rotate in and out of the room to tell us your preference for whether we should pay as a lump sum or over a series of years. All Oakbridge residents are encouraged to attend.
