Hello Oakbridge Neighbors,
This is being sent largely for those who are dog-owners, but may be informative to all. As some of you have already discovered, the city recently banned dogs (even on leashes) in Haen Family Park. For context, this change was implemented by the Board of Park Commissioners (BPC) by recommendation of the city parks division as a substitute Dog-Free Park for the purposes of allowing dogs in Hillpoint Park (located just off the intersection of Junction and Watts, 1.3 miles from Haen Family Park), without having received any citizen request for dogs to be banned in Haen Family Park. Dogs are still also banned in Sauk Creek Park (0.6 miles from Haen Family Park).
With both nearby parks now banning dogs, the OCSA would like to ensure that everyone is aware of how comments can be provided to the BPC and to the city parks division regarding the topic. The BPC can receive comments at pacommission@cityofmadison.com, referencing Legislative File No. 68112. A request for the designation of any park to be changed (or remain the same) can be submitted to the parks division at https://www.cityofmadison.com/parks/play/designation-change-request. Additional information on the BPC and their meetings, minutes, and agendas can be found via both their and parks division websites, and additional information on dog policies throughout the city parks can be found at the parks division website.

Hours
The Oakbridge Board of Directors recommends that trick or treating occur between 5 PM and 7 PM on Halloween, Sunday Oct. 31.

We recommend that people puts treats out at the end of their driveways this year instead of kids coming up to individual doors. See the City of Madison’s website with a link to the CDC Guidelines:https://www.cityofmadison.com/visit-play/halloween-activities
Pumpkin Contest
If you’d like to participate in our pumpkin-carving or -decorating contest, place your pumpkin where it’s easy to see and next to it have a sign with your address. If you’d like to enter more than one artistic effort, make sure each of them has an identifying letter as well as your address. People walking by would keep notes and, by the end of Tuesday Nov. 2, e-mail their top-3 votes to OCSA Secretary RichardSRussell@tds.net with the subject line “OCSA Pumpkin Vote” . Voting is not limited to one per household; each person can vote independently (but only once 😉)! The body of the message should be just 3 lines, like this:1 – 123 Oak St. B2 – 456 Oak Ave.3 – 123 Oak St. A

Madison Police Department solicits community input on safety concerns. West Side Division captain and officers will be available to hear what’s on your mind this Thursday, Sep. 16, at 9 AM at Elver Park.

Hello neighbors,
The Oakbridge board has decided to choose 7/31/2021 and 8/1/2021 as the dates for this year’s garage sale dates. After much discussion, we felt that it was necessary to delay it by 2 1/2 months from the normal Mid May time-frame so more people can get vaccinations. We also wanted to give enough notice so it can be as successful as possible. If these dates do not work for you, you can certainly do it when it’s convenient.
Thanks,
OCSA Board
